What happens if my securities account gains or loses substantial value between filing for divorce and the judgment?

In divorce, the inventory is established as at the date of filing. Your securities account therefore enters the divorce inventory with the shares held when filing. However, its value is determined as at the actual divorce judgment (Art. 214). If shares rise or fall substantially before divorce, their market value on the judgment date counts.

In short: In a Swiss divorce, assets are valued as at the actual divorce judgment, not the filing date.
